Joy, laughter, anticipation, butterflies, bliss, tension, and relief. Wedding days run high on a multitude of emotions and it's what has kept me hooked year after year. Most of us, at one point or another, have looked back on our own parents or grandparents wedding photos with some sense of adoration and nostalgia. It is with this same sentiment that I strive to document weddings. Your wedding photographs should ripen over time, offering a delayed reaction that grows more meaningful as life carries on and memories fade.

Ariel & Logan Intimate Canlis Wedding on Film:
Ariel and Logan wanted a wedding that felt intimate, sophisticated, and chic. Enter Canlis, one of Seattle’s top restaurants with incredible food, service, setting, and views.
Their wedding day took place on an early spring day in April. It was a classic gloomy day in Seattle which made for a cozy feel in the restaurant. Canlis allows events to take place upstairs in a private floor with floor to ceiling windows overlooking Lake Washington and, on a clear day, the cascade mountain range.
I met Ariel and Logan with their family at the restaurant where we went right into the family-only ceremony, officiated by Ariel’s sister.
We followed with some family portraits on the rooftop, a few portraits of the couple (which we kept brief so they could focus on being with their guests), then went back downstairs to greet all of their incoming guests for cocktail hour.
The room quickly filled with excited friends and extended family and the cocktail hour began, the room buzzing with energy. Ariel and Logan wanted to focus on candids and to capture the ambiance that the beautiful Canlis restaurant provides. I shot primarily on 35mm and medium format film, switching to digital when needed.
The cocktail hour was followed by a sit down dinner where Ariel and Logans parents made speeches that made us all teary-eyed (a good speech is often my favorite part of a wedding day).
Dusk had settled outside and the light became a striking blue, reflecting from the water and twinkling city lights in the distance. After a few more candids, I left to let them soak in being in the moment.
